In looking in old records and file cabinets, I have found interesting tidbits about Bottineau to share
Way back on December 20, 1934 a group of prominent businessmen met to organize a club. Elected president was Sig Sigurdson, Vice President was G.A. Williams. Directors were Elmer Larson, E.H. Charnholm, H.D Lamport and Secretary/ Treasurer R Monson. The club chose the name Bottineau Community Service Club-later known as the Greater Bottineau Area Chamber of Commerce.
By January 1935 they had 76 paid up members.Topics discussed at the first meeting involved the winter carnival, paving of Thompson Street and 5th and 6th Street. A lengthy discussion was held on recreation for young people and the status of the N.D School of Forestry.
At the December meeting of 1935 much discussion was held in regards to children using the ice rink. Free time was given to Central School Students. Wm. Dyer suggested probably only students with good work and class records should be rewarded this free privelege. Father Andrieuxx was of opinion that if a child could pay $.15 for movie matinee, they could pay $.05 for recreation and pleasure. This matter was TABLED!
The June 1935 financial staement showed an income for the year of $554 and expenditures of $416.34
